WHAT I AM

"I AM A WRITER THATS WHAT I AM!"

Set in 1965, That’s What I Am follows Chase Ellison through a year in middle school, as he pairs up on a school project with class outcast Alexander Walters, witnesses the unjust pillorying of his favorite teacher (Ed Harris), and gets his first kiss. With its nostalgia-infused voiceover narration,That’s What I Am seems to be aiming for To Kill A Mockingbird by way of The Sandlot, but its story threads never entirely meet up or reach any kind of apogee. Ellison learns that while Walters is tall, has red hair, and likes to read books, he isn’t a disgusting, horrible freak of nature. Meanwhile, Harris gets pushed out of his job for refusing to respond to accusations of homosexuality leveled at him by a student retaliating for an earlier punishment. A placard preceding the film’s title card assures that it’s “inspired by true events,” but the note is unnecessary, given the limpness of the narrative arcs. Who would make up such an anticlimactic story? That’s What I Am cries out for a figurative finishing move.--sources from: http://www.avclub.com/articles/thats-what-i-am,55260/

i was bein carried with my emotions while i was watchin this very heart warming story of first love and life. i came to the point of realization of human dignity plays a big role in our society yet most of us doesnt seem gave much workin on it. the story was all about the importance of teaching, human dignity, dream and reputation. SIMON, who used to be a teacher for all of his life and about 57 years old to be exact. he really shares a lot of good thoughts that catches my ears. he said
"if you enjoy something and you enjoy at it, then first youre gonna define yourself what you wanna be"
some rumour came up on the school, that this teacher is a homo sexual, mr. simon used to be single for 19 years and havent married after her wife passed away, some parents put bad allegation to him, the principal asked him to deny that hes not, the pricipal is of those people who believe how good teacher mr. simon is, and she wanted to continue his teaching on that school. on that scene when the principal asked to deny that allegation mr, simon said
"i guess i just dont know how my private life has any baring on my ability as teacher.
im not going to justify that question with an answer. i am 57 yrs old, i am a teacher most of my life, i will not compromise who or what i am."
the writer who used to narrate some  part of it and a young men at his age, said
"when my mother explain to me what a homo sexual was she thanksfully spared me the technecalities. my father was ryt i wasnt read, the more conventional  male-female was still relatively knew tome, she said a homo sexual is capable of a deeper love for another man than a woman and she assured me it have absolutely nothing to do wit mr, simons character and insist he will the best teacher i would probably ever had.and not its all that mattered."
simon said "teaching is a labor of love not economical reward and life is about timing, opportunity and choice"
"i cant make them be nice people and even if i did there are others take there place"
